Online Purchases

What can I do if I don't get what I ordered?

You should take steps to protect your consumer rights even before you place an order. You can safeguard these rights by doing the following:

  • Review the company's return, refund, and shipping and handling policies. Look under the company's online contract agreement for "legal terms" or "disclaimers." If you cannot find the contract, ask the seller through an e-mail or telephone call to indicate where it is on the site or to provide it to you in writing.
  • Print and save all company correspondence. You should print out and date a copy of the company's terms, conditions, warranties, item description, and confirming e-mails, and save them with the records of your purchase.

When your purchase arrives, examine the item carefully as soon as you receive it. Contact the seller as soon as possible if you discover a problem with it. Tell the seller in writing about any problem that you are concerned with, ask for a repair or refund, and again keep a copy of your correspondence in case you have to take the company to court.
