Buying a Used Car

Do I need a written car contract if I buy from a private seller?

It is a good idea to put any car-buying agreement in writing. As a general rule, you should have a written contract if the price is more than $500. Depending on the law of your state and the amount of money at stake, the court might not be able to enforce a contract that is not in writing.
