Do lemon laws cover used cars?

That depends on the state law that applies to your car purchase. A growing number of states apply lemon laws to used cars, and in some states lemon laws may apply to car sales by both dealers and private sellers. Sometimes a state's lemon laws are related to state law regarding safety inspection stickers. (See "Inspections" on page 383.)
