The Rights of Older Americans

Age Discrimination on the Job

My employer says that I do not have to stop working at age sixty-five. However, I will have to accept a job with less responsibility and less pay. Is this legal?

No. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) also protects you in your present job situation. Your employer may not force you to take a less responsible job or accept a lower salary.
