How will I know the outcome of my application for Social Security benefits?

You should receive written notification informing you whether your claim has been approved or denied in sixty to ninety days. If your claim is approved, you will be told how much your benefits will be and when to expect your first check. If, however, your claim is denied, your letter should list the reasons.
