Who qualifies for Medicare?

In addition to older Social Security recipients, younger persons who have received Social Security disability benefits for more than 24 months are eligible, as well as certain persons with kidney disease. If you are under 65 and receiving disability benefits, your enrollment in Medicare will begin automatically as soon as you have been receiving benefits for 24 months.
