Medicaid

Does owning a home disqualify me from Medicaid?

No. All states exempt your home as an asset as long as you, your spouse, or certain other qualified individuals live in it. If you must leave your home in order to receive nursing-home care or other long-term care, it is still exempt permanently or for some period of time, but state rules differ state and can be complex. Besides your home, all states allow you to keep a very limited amount of cash and personal property.
