What is a Medicare SELECT policy?
Medicare SELECT policies, which are available in some states, generally cost less than equivalent Medigap plans. However, with a Medicare SELECT plan, you must use specific hospitals and, in some cases, doctors, to get full insurance benefits (except in an emergency). If you don't, you will have to pay what the original Medicare plan does not pay. The original Medicare plan will pay its share of approved charges no matter what hospital or doctor you choose.
