Paying for Long-Term Care
- What federal programs pay for long-term care in a nursing home?
- What if I don't want to live in a nursing home? Are home care services available under Medicare or Medicaid?
- What happens if my spouse needs nursing-home care but I am still able to live independently? Will all our income and assets have to be used for his or her support before Medicaid will help pay expenses?
- If I have assets that exceed my state's Medicaid eligibility requirements, can I transfer these to my children or to a trust in order to qualify? After all, these are assets I intend to leave to my children when I die.
