What situations does the Americans with Disabilities Act cover?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects people with disabilities against discrimination in employment, public transit, and public accommodation, such as hotels, restaurants, stores, banks, schools, and senior centers. It generally does not cover housing (but the Fair Housing Act does; see below), although it does cover some nonhousing activities that are based in a housing facility, such as meals or activity programs to which the public is invited.
