Can I change or terminate my advance directive?

Yes, you always have the right to change or revoke your advance directive while you have the mental capacity to do so. Normally, you can revoke it orally or in writing in any way that indicates your intent to revoke. Your intent should be communicated to your agent, your family, and your doctor.

If you want to change the document, it is best to execute a new document. The same formalities of signing and witnessing are required for changes.
