What is a preferred provider plan?

A preferred provider plan is a fairly flexible form of MCO, which gives you the opportunity to choose a health-care provider from a list of providers who are members of the sponsoring insurer's preferred provider organization (PPO). If you choose to see a health-care provider who is not a member of the PPO, then you will receive a reduced level of reimbursement.
