How do I apply for Medicaid?

You should contact the state or local agency that handles the Medicaid program. Its name will vary from place to place. It may be called Social Services, Public Aid, Public Welfare, Human Services, or something similar. Chapter 16, "The Rights of Older Americans," contains more detailed information on how to apply for Medicaid.
