The Civil Trial: Step by Step

Commencing Legal Proceedings and Procedures Before Trial

What if the defendant believes that the plaintiff has caused damage to the defendant?

In that case, the defendant in a civil case, in addition to answering the plaintiff's complaint, may file a claim against the plaintiff. This action is known as a counterclaim.
