Buying and Selling a Home

Meeting the Players

Selecting a Real Estate Agent to Help You Buy a Home

What is the role of the buyer's agent?

The buyer's agent works with the buyer to find potential homes. The agent contacts the listing agent, helps the buyer view the home, assists the buyer in preparing an offer, monitors the transaction, and, perhaps, helps the buyer to obtain financing. In most cases, the seller pays the sales commission, which is shared by the seller's agent and the buyer's agent.
