Rent Control

What areas of the country have rent control?

The District of Columbia and some municipalities in New York, New Jersey, and California have passed rent control ordinances. Most state legislatures have outlawed local rent control ordinances. Some form of rent control covers less than 10 percent of the tenants in the country.
