Consumer Bankruptcy

Introduction to Bankruptcy

Working with a Lawyer

I think I found a lawyer to represent me during my bankruptcy. How can I tell if he or she is good?

Be careful in your selection and make sure that your lawyer has a good reputation and is familiar with bankruptcy law and procedures. When you first talk with a prospective lawyer, does he or she seem to understand your problems and have solutions, or are you in a "factory" that merely processes paper? Also, how comfortable are you with this person? Remember, you will have to talk about some very personal matters including your income and spending habits.
