Ask a Lawyer : Chapter 6 - Wills 101

Any Role for a Notary?

Q. Does a will have to be notarized? Would it help to notarize it, even it it’s not required?

A. Notarization of a will is essentially irrelevant in most jurisdictions, but self-proving affidavits typically require notarization.
